Message from Our Director
Thank you for visiting the Farley Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation’s web site. As a current or potential student, alumni, faculty or staff member, or friend of Northwestern, we hope you are able to learn about us, our classes, and other programs we offer to the greater Northwestern community. Our mission is to serve every member of the Northwestern community. We take great pride in the fact that the majority of our students come from outside the McCormick School of Engineering, our host school.
Our classes and programs are designed to appeal to everyone from students, who are just trying to obtain a primer on entrepreneurship, to serial entrepreneurs. We believe in the value of interdisciplinary and experiential learning. Our NUvention classes best illustrate this belief. Our hope is that the learning opportunities we offer empower the Northwestern community to not only learn how to become entrepreneurs and innovators, but also apply that learning at some point in their careers as students or alumni. Although a number of our students have gone on to create successful companies from the ideas they formulated in our classes, our mission goes far beyond helping students launch startups. We aim to provide each of our students with an entrepreneurship toolkit that they may choose to use at some point in their careers. Entrepreneurship and innovation skills are needed in almost every type of position and company today — not just startups.
Our faculty include serial entrepreneurs and Farley Fellows, research faculty who are also entrepreneurs. We welcome alumni or members of the greater community to engage in our classes. Current and former entrepreneurs are a key part of the learning we try to facilitate and are an extension of our faculty.
Our endowers, James and Nancy Farley, shared our mission from the beginning and have so kindly provided us the financial support to offer the classes and programs we provide to the Northwestern community. We are eternally grateful for their endowment and ongoing support through the Farley Family Charitable Foundation.
We hope your visit to our digital presence here is just the beginning of your journey with us. Please feel free to reach out to me or any member of our Farley Center team if you have any questions or just want to talk about your interest in entrepreneurship and innovation. We look forward to hearing from you. Please consider subscribing to our newsletter to stay current with the activities of our Center.
