e@nu Speaker Series: Sam Barnett

Sam Barnett loves data. “But just having the data is not answering the questions,” he says. Sam’s April 6 e@nu talk detailed a life and career devoted to using algorithms and research findings to answer big questions. Sam is the CEO and founder of the multimillion dollar hedge fund, SBB Research Group, which develops complex algorithms to predict the stock market. He is also a neuroscience researcher in Professor Moran Cerf’s lab, currently parlaying his results into movie ticket sales projections. Add to the list that he’s a Northwestern PhD student and a professional tennis player, and you wonder how so many talents and passions converged in one person.
