Marcelo MalakootiAssistant Professor of Pediatrics (Critical Care)

Biography

Marcelo Malakooti, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Critical Care), and is also the Associate Chief Medical Officer of Lurie Children's, and Medical Director and Director of Innovation (IGNITE Innovation) for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. His research is focused on generating innovative solutions to improve patient outcomes and quality of care, while fostering dynamic strategies to minimize waste and optimize resources. In particular, through IGNITE Innovation he has built multi-disciplinary innovative strategies and platforms for novel idea generation, solutions for costly systems including patient care processes, and creative approaches to forwarding patient safety, quality and care delivery for value formation.

Dr. Malakooti obtained his MD from Drexel Univeristy (2008), and went on to complete residency at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine, Pediatrics (2011), and his Fellowships at Northwestern University, McGaw Medical Center (Children’s Memorial Hospital) and Pediatrics Critical Care (2014).
