Brew Bike Places Sixth in Rice Business Plan Competition

The annual event is the world’s richest and largest student startup competition hosted by the
Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship at Rice University in Houston. A record $2.9
million was awarded to startups at this year’s competition.
The teams were chosen from more than 300 entrants to compete in four categories including
life sciences, information technology/web/mobile, energy/clean technology/sustainability, and
tech innovation. Each team conducted 15-minute investment pitches and participated in a
rapidfire 60-second elevator pitch contest on the first night of the three day competition.
BrewBike was founded in 2015 as a bike serving cold brew coffee on Northwestern’s campus, then grew into a micro retail shop in Annenberg Hall and launched cold brew subscriptions for on-campus Greek organizations.

The company has expanded to other schools by helping teams of undergraduate students launch, grow, and manage BrewBike on their campuses.  The startup benefitted from participation in the 10 week
Wildfire PreAccelerator and is a resident team in The Garage.  They also worked under the guidance of Farley Co-Director, Mark Werwath for the Winter 2019 and Spring 2019 quarters on their strategic plan.
