About the Farley Center

The Farley Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation was endowed in 2008 to foster student interest in entrepreneurship and to create a community of student innovators equipped for future entrepreneurial success. The gift was made by the James N. and Nancy J. Farley Foundation on behalf of Northwestern Engineering alumnus James Farley (EE '50) and his wife Nancy. The center serves as a resource for students, faculty, and alumni from across the University.

The Farley Center is facilitating the next generation of interdisciplinary learning at Northwestern by integrating many different disciplines. Farley brings together faculty from a number of schools to develop courses where students experience the entire innovation/business lifecycle — from ideation to prototyping and business plan development — to create innovative curricula like NUvention which offers courses in creating web, medical, energy, and social impact companies.

A Key Piece of the Northwestern Entrepreneurship Ecosystem

Entrepreneurship at Northwestern is a diverse, complex world. The Farley Center serves a primary role in entrepreneurship education, programming, and support. The cornerstone of our approach to entrepreneurship is interdisciplinarity, which requires collaboration with our campus partners, ranging from Kellogg Innovation & Entrepreneurship Initiative (KIEI) to Medill to the Pritzker School of Law to The Garage.
